From Barabazar to India's Finest Hotels

In 1960, amidst the bustling lanes of Kolkata's legendary Barabazar — the commercial heartbeat of Bengal — a young entrepreneur named Shri Gupta laid the foundation of what would become United Traders. Starting with a modest collection of quality fabrics, his vision was simple: to bring premium textiles to every home, at honest prices.

Over six and a half decades, that humble beginning has grown into a multi-generational legacy. Today, United Traders is led by Mr. Ramesh Gupta, the 4th generation custodian of this remarkable heritage. Under his leadership, the company has expanded from a beloved retail house to a trusted wholesale supplier for over 200 premium hotels across India.

Shri Gupta establishes United Traders in Kolkata's iconic Barabazar, focusing on quality home textiles for the city's growing middle class.

1978 — Expansion

Second Generation Takes the Reins

The business expands into wholesale, serving retailers across West Bengal. A wider product range including curtains and bed linen is introduced.

1995 — Hotel Division

Entering the Hospitality Sector

United Traders begins supplying to Kolkata's premier hotels, establishing the hospitality division that now serves 200+ properties across India.

2010 — Modernisation

Ramesh Gupta Leads a New Era

Fourth generation Mr. Ramesh Gupta takes leadership, modernising operations, expanding brand partnerships, and elevating the company to national prominence.

2025 — Recognition

Chief Guest at CASA 2025
